what's special about this tea?

Our signature blend, our daily cuppa, our English Breakfast, our builder's brew, or even our Rosy Lee - call it whatever you want but our everyday brew is a top quality take on the ultimate British favourite. Made with a delicious combination of three black tea leaves: a gutsy Assam, a mellow Ceylon and a powerful Rwandan to give a balanced, malty, zesty alliance.

how does it taste?
A perfectly balanced, robust black tea blend with a malty, zesty, and rich flavour. Whether you like your black tea as it is, with a dash of milk, a slice of lemon or even served over ice - this punchy brew is an all-round favourite. Not only available in tea temples - we also have loose leaf English breakfast tea too!

Our everyday brew is blended using the following types of tea:

Assam black tea: This strong black tea from the Assam region in the northeast of India has a deep, malty, and earthy flavour.
Rwandan black tea: This malty black tea, complete with subtle savoury notes, is easily the most well-known African tea.
Ceylon black tea: Also known as Sri Lankan tea, Ceylon is known for its bold and brisk flavour and distinct aroma. This tea heightens this brew with a strong, rich taste that only the top-quality leaves can provide.

So, if you've ever asked yourself what does English Breakfast tea taste like? We can't say what they ALL taste like... but we of course think ours is the best black tea around!

additional information
What is black tea? This breakfast tea blend comes from the Camellia sinensis plant, where the leaves are oxidised, giving the tea its dark color and robust flavor. It's a popular beverage enjoyed globally for its bold taste and aroma. Often served with milk or sugar, black tea is known for its energizing qualities and can be enjoyed hot or cold. In tea terms, it means this brew is a certified, no nonsense 'tea'! Our aim is to get the Nation drinking the best quality loose leaf black tea leaves, even if that does mean putting them in a tea temple for ease. Loose leaf quality in every temple.

We do also sell loose leaf English breakfast tea in either 100g or 250g pouches. Not only do you get a bit more for your money buying loose leaf black tea, we think making a pot of tea makes your tea break that little bit more special.

If you’re a little confused as to why we call our black tea bags, tea temples – it’s quite simple really. Along with their pyramid shape, which lets the tea freely steep - helping to give even more flavour to your cuppa. We only use the best quality teas for you to enjoy, we think tea so good deserves a little praise, right? Besides, tea temples sounds far more fitting for our teapigs everyday brew, than simply English breakfast tea bags.

How to brew English breakfast tea?Just pop a tea temple into your favourite mug for 3-5 minutes, then add the milk of your choosing and away you go! If you prefer our loose leaf breakfast tea or our organic loose leaf English breakfast tea leaves however, then you can pop a few teaspoons of this brilliant brew into your infuser and leave for the same amount of time - or perhaps even a tad longer if you prefer a stronger cuppa. If you're new to the world of loose leaf tea, don't worry - it's way simpler and less messy than you may expect. Our loose leaf tea infusers are the perfect infuser for loose leaf newbies.

Does black tea have caffeine? Yes, as black tea comes from the camellia sinenis bush it naturally contains caffeine. There are alternatives if you're looking to either cut down on the amount of caffeine you have each day or if you're looking to cut it out altogether. Such as our decaf English breakfast, which has only a fraction of the caffeine content left after extraction or our rooibos teas, which are incredibly popular as a naturally caffeine free alternative to black teas.

Is black tea good for you? Teas from the camellia sinensis plant naturally contain nutrients and caffeine - which makes black tea a very popular drink for a little pick me up when you're lacking focus. If you have any concerns about consuming caffeine, you should always speak to a doctor to make sure that it suits your dietary requirements.

What are the benefits of black tea? Besides tasting great, black tea is the nation's go-to for an energy boost. No judgement here, but if consumed without sugar or heavy milks - it's a much cleaner alternative to other caffeinated beverages such as energy drinks and fizzy pop - without naming any names.

My absolute favourite tea bags! No dust, eco friendly package, and makes the best cup of tea!

Wow.

I absolutely love this tea. I went on a search to find the best everyday tea. I tried all sorts of expensive blends and it was nothing but disappointed. Then I tried this, which was a quarter of the price of expensive brands I'd been trying and yes! At last. I've seen reviews saying it's expensive but if you buy the loose tea, instead of the bags and use a teapot, it's half the price and it tastes even better. Plus it's way cheaper that the likes of Whittards of Chelsea and far better in my opinion. 10 out of 10 (11 out of 10 if I could!).
